Most of DuPont was built within the last few decades, after Weyerhaeuser's Northwest Landing plan won council approval in 1989. That changes what an inspection looks at. In a house of that age the concerns are rarely crumbling mortar; they are a vent cap knocked loose by wind, a chase cover starting to rust, a missing firestop, or a gas appliance whose glass seal has gone brittle. The older company-era homes are the exception, and there we spend more time on the masonry itself.

According to the agency, a certified stove usually carries an EPA label on its back or side, and that a 'UL Tested' plate is not the same thing.
During an inspection we look for that label on any stove or insert, so you know where your appliance stands before the next Stage 1 or Stage 2 ban is called.
